Essential oils are a game-changer. Their potency permeates our everyday lives in more ways than one.

Essential oils are a game-changer. They can lift your spirits, or calm you down. They also improve skin health by promoting cell regeneration, improving blood circulation and balancing hormones.

About Essential Oils

For the uninitiated, essential oils already permeate our everyday lives in more ways than one. In our makeup ritual, essential oils are common ingredients in cleansers, lotions and serums. In bathrooms, they can be found in mouthwash, toothpaste, even cleaning agents. Outside of home, essential oils are used in food, medicine and insect repellent.

In small quantities, essential oils can quickly penetrate into the body to relieve pain, heal open wounds, reduce inflammation and increase blood circulation. If you feel sick, essential oils’ antibacterial and antiviral properties can be your first defence against colds and flus.

Yet, consumers in Asia are still quite new to the use of essential oils. Many believe that the more essential oils there are, the better it is. In fact, essential oils are very potent. A little goes a long way, and overusing will only cause skin sensitisation, so less is always more.

Formulated With Essential Oils

Bringing to life potent ingredients from Southeast Asia’s diverse rainforest, Wendee Lee, co-founder of Biconi and organic cosmetics formulator, develops personal care products that harness the best of nature’s essential oils, making sure they are always vegan and vegetarian friendly.

Championing essential oils, Wendee goes to great lengths to ensure that a reputable, trustworthy supplier is available. “There are misconceptions that essential oils are too expensive,” she explains, adding that the industry is rife with fake and adulterated oils. “To produce a mere 5 ml of rose essential oil requires 12,000 rose buds and hours of painstaking labour. This won’t come cheap!” she exclaims.

With a special interest in noni fruit and coconut oil, Wendee develops personal care products that ensure maximum potency without harsh chemicals such as SLS, parabens and petrochemicals. Formulated in-house and handmade with the best natural ingredients, Biconi’s products showcase the simple benefits of using essential oils.

Essential Oils From Head To Toe

Doyenne.sg picks out three personal care products, made from pure concentrations of noni and potent plant extracts, to keep you covered from head to toe.

  1. The Hair Revitalising Shampoo Bar, Biconi’s first product, is a highly sought after shampoo which helps reduce hair loss and promotes new hair growth.
  1. The Glow Facial Serum is power-packed with avocado, argan, coconut and macadamia oils that nourish the skin with antioxidants and vitamins for a healthy, glowing complexion.
  1. The Sweet Almond Oil, suitable for normal or combination skin, is perfect as a massage oil, preventing split ends and doubling up as a makeup remover.

How Biconi Started

Biconi’s story started with a silver lining, when Wendee and her mother, Blan, learnt that their father and husband was diagnosed with cancer. In the quest to help him ward off skin infections and hair loss from undergoing chemotherapy, they experimented with a small batch of soap bars blended with homemade noni enzyme.

Soon after, what started out as a mission to help a family member, turned into a passion to help others when they saw first hand how effective something as simple as a natural bar of soap can be.

Today, Biconi is available on www.biconi.com and selected stores in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
